The essential detail
A pixel is not a length.
A pixel becomes a physical measurement only when you choose a density. At 300 PPI, 3,000 pixels span 10 inches. At 150 PPI, the same image spans 20 inches but carries half as much detail per inch.

pixels = inches × PPI
centimetres = inches × 2.54
pixels = inches × PPI
centimetres = inches × 2.54
DPI describes printer dots; PPI describes image or display pixels. Print workflows often use “300 DPI” as shorthand for supplying artwork at 300 pixels per inch at the finished size.
